Igniting Inclusive Catholic Education

Our History

The FIRE Foundation of Sacramento was founded in 2025 by a group of parents who believed that every child, regardless of ability, deserves the opportunity to attend their parish school alongside siblings and friends. With the support of dedicated families, a passionate board of directors, and a growing community committed to inclusive Catholic education, FIRE Sacramento is preparing to grant funding to partner schools across the Diocese of Sacramento to support the inclusion of students with disabilities in Catholic schools.

The FIRE Foundation of Sacramento, an independent 501(c)(3) organization, makes it possible for partner Catholic schools to hire special educators and paraprofessionals, and to acquire learning materials and technology that support successful learning experiences for all students.

Without support from FIRE Sacramento, many schools would not have the resources to welcome students with Down syndrome, significant learning disabilities, students on the autism spectrum, and others with unique learning needs. In inclusive learning environments, children grow up knowing and appreciating each other’s individual gifts.

FIRE Sacramento opens doors. And hearts.

Lack of resources is often cited as a reason for turning away students with disabilities.

Can you imagine the heartache of being told your Catholic school isn’t able to welcome your child with disabilities? It shouldn’t be that way. The FIRE Foundation of Sacramento helps schools in the Diocese of Sacramento create learning environments where students with disabilities can learn, grow, and thrive alongside their typically developing peers.

"Build an educational relationship with each student, who must feel welcomed and loved for what he or she is, with all of the limitations or potential.”

—Pope Francis

Since launching in 2025, the FIRE Foundation of Sacramento has raised over $7,000 to support inclusive Catholic education in the Diocese of Sacramento.

It is a blessing and a privilege to partner with Catholic schools that are committed to embracing the call to serve all learners.
